More Helpful Mel Scripts

I found this site a little while ago and have been keeping up with it for a few months now. There are some good scripts on here to help animators out and Jay Grenier is also an animator that does lots of rigging. One that might help is: A script that zeros out all keyable attributes. This may come in handy while in blocking and going from one pose to the next since it is a technique of some to zero out all keys when moving onto the next pose (in blocking) to help keep your curves clean and it can help with things like gimbal. Lots of studios have this script built in to their software and I know it comes in handy.

So check in from time to time because he updates regularly. There are some scripts for animators to help and some more advanced for others that like scripting. So look around and enjoy.

Some More Helpful Tools for us Animators

Some More Helpful Tools for us Animators

This site has been on Animators Resource since the beginning…but a friend recently called my attention back to it. There are a few tools on this site that can be super helpful to animators so I thought I should highlight them. As animators we always have issues with parenting objects. Well Paolo Dominici’s site offers some solutions. He has developed a ZV Parent Master. It allows you to parent and unparent at will. Parent multiple object and see all of this in your timeline. The best part is that its free! He gives a demo of it on his site too. You can also get it on Highend 3D here. He also has developed a ridicules GUI picker for characters. He has multiple demos of it on his site or click here. It will be a way to help speed up your animation and we all know anything helps. He has a list of other products as well. Check them out.

Helpful Animation Mel Scripts

So in this post I thought that I should speak up about a couple of great Mel scripts that are out there to help us animators along in the process. Hey anything that can make our life even a tad bit easier is always appreciated. So the first is the Tween Machine by Justin Barret and the shelf icons were created by Keith Lango. This is a great tool to help us along inbetweening our animation. It is not a substitute to actually doing it rather a tool to help us get the job done faster. There are many setting and it can be a very valuable tool so read up on it on the site. The other is the autotangent tool created by Comet-Cartoons. It’s under the Mel Script Suite there. There are plenty of good tools included in the suite and they list them on the site. The autotangent tool allows you to get the right curve on your tangents after the blocking stage. Many animators have different work flows that work for them from pass to pass. This tool allows you to have better control over your tangents so that there is no or less overshoot as compared to when you use spline. It allows you to have a bit more control over your tangents instead of leaving them to the computer AHHH. These scripts are all for maya. Although Comet-Cartoons has ones for Max. There are also many other helpful scripts at Highend 3D you can check out.
Let me point you in the direction for the scripts I mentioned.
