Breakdowns: Tim Rudder
Saw this post a little while back about breakdowns in Zootopia from Tim Rudder. He uses some examples from the Face and Hands. Fun quick way to analyze some animation.
Enjoy!

If you watch his reference video you can see some of the stuff he uses as his base and then pluses and pushes the animation. Great insight on how to use reference video effectively.

Looks like a fun day if you are in the area June 30th! Check out the Animation Mentor site for more details.
An excerpt:
“Ever wish you could spend a day with professional animators and watch them break down a shot and detail each step? Well wish no more! Our friends from Pixar, DreamWorks, and Tippett will break down a couple of shots from their feature film work, discuss the challenges they faced, and share how they achieved the final results. And remember to ask lots of questions! Seating is limited — so register today!”

Jamaal just posted a Progression of his Animated Shot: Gothel & Rapunzel Disney’s Tangled. Literally from Layout into his 2D posing, Blocking and Splined it’s a great insight into his process and workflow. Thanks to Jamaal for putting it out there and it’s really a great shot!

I ran into this site a while back but just getting around to posting on this great reference. Scott Eaton shows off his Artistic Anatomy, Digital Sculpture and VFX. There is a category over on the side under Courses & Reference titled: Bodies in Motion Image Library. He has a ton of images of single frames of motion all put next to each other to show you the break-down of the motion.
Here’s a great little piece that was passed on at work. It shows the break down of the TV spot done by The Mill, a Visual Effects Studio with locations in the UK, NY and LA. They do a great job breaking down their process and gives everyone a good look at what goes into a project like this.
